Rob Eastwood, WHKY Reporter was hired on December 15, 2014.
A 1991 graduate of New York Institute of Technology, Rob has been on the air at multiple radio stations on the east coast since graduating college, with WHKY being his home since 2014. Rob has had two stints at WHKY, from 2007-2009, and 2014-present. Rob’s radio journey has included the east end of Long Island, NY, upstate NY, Cheraw, SC, Radford, VA, Lenoir, Morganton, and Hickory, NC.
Rob was a deejay in various formats from 1991-1996, and has worked in news since 1996. He also did eleven straight years (1996-2007) of radio play-by-play for American Legion and High School Baseball, High School Football, and High School Basketball, covering hundreds of games in Caldwell County during that time span. In addition to his work at WHKY, Rob also currently works as a public address announcer for the Hickory Crawdads during baseball season.
Rob volunteers as a member of the Board of Directors at New Beginnings Hickory, a men’s recovery home, and formerly served in the same capacity at The Meeting Place, a transitional home for men in Morganton (2011-2014). Rob’s interests include exercise, including running, tennis, and basketball, hiking, and photography. He has four children, all currently living in New York.
