NEWTON, N.C. (WHKY) – A 29-year-old Newton man is facing multiple firearm-related charges following a search at a residence on Old State Road.

The Catawba County Sheriff’s Office says its Special Tactics and Response, or STAR, Team executed a search warrant Thursday (September 10) as part of an investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division into alleged firearm offenses.

Jacob G. Hamrick was taken into custody without incident. Deputies say they recovered a firearm and additional firearm parts during the search. Hamrick is charged with manufacture, possession and assembly of a weapon of mass destruction, along with possession of a firearm by a felon.

He was given no bond and placed in the Catawba County Detention Facility. Hamrick had a Friday (September 11) District Court date scheduled.
