Yadkin County Man Sentenced in Case Involving Sexual Assault of Elderly Woman

38-year-old Julius Santez Williams of Boonville in Yadkin County has been sentenced to 240-to-360 months (20-30 years) in state prison. Williams entered a guilty plea in Alexander County Superior Court on March 18.

Williams was convicted in connection with a July 2020 rape and home invasion in Alexander County. In that incident, an elderly female was sexually assaulted at a residence in Hiddenite. The victim said she was asleep in her bed and was awakened by a man hitting her in the face and strangling her.

A D.N.A. match identified Williams as the suspect. Williams was taken into custody in Catawba County in October of 2020. He was spotted in Monroe earlier the same day, but was able to elude Officers on foot. The Alexander County Sheriff’s Office charged Williams with felony counts of first-degree rape, first-degree burglary, first-degree kidnapping, and assault inflicting serious bodily injury.

Williams has a long criminal history and is a registered sex-offender. He has been convicted of indecent liberties with a minor in Yadkin Couny on multiple occasions involving multiple victims. He was also convicted in October 2022 in Wilkes County for failure by a sex offender to report a change of address.
