Yadkin County Man Held on Fugitive Warrant from Virginia

48-year-old James Michael Ransom of Brandon Hills Road in Yadkinville, who also lists an address in Glen Daniel, West Virginia, has been arrested by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers on a felony warrant as a fugitive awaiting extradition to another state. He is wanted by the Giles County Sheriff’s Office in Pearisburg, Virginia in connection to multiple counts of stealing or tampering with coin-operated equipment and petit larceny. The warrant was issued in May of 2022. He also faces local charges dating back to last year for breaking into a coin or currency operated machine and injury to personal property.

Ransom was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility on February 13 under a $5,000 bond on the fugitive warrant and without bond on the local charges. He remained in jail as of earlier today. An appearance in District Court was scheduled today in Newton with a Superior Court date on the local charges coming up on March 20.
