The N.C. Department of Transportation plans to intermittently close lanes on N.C. Highway 73 in January to service the bridge that carries the highway over the Catawba River in Lincoln County.
Maintenance crews plan to close one side of the highway between Caswell Road and the east side of the river from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day from January 4-8, 2021. The eastbound lane will be closed first. When work on the eastbound lane is complete, the closure will shift and work will begin in the westbound lane. The work had initially been scheduled for December 14-18, but was rescheduled due to weather conditions.
Message boards will be in place to alert drivers of the closure. Motorists should drive slowly through the work zone and remain alert for workers in the area.
