Women Killed In Caldwell County Crash

Two women were killed and four children were injured in a Caldwell County crash.

On Friday (April 21) at approximately 4:00 p.m., the N.C. State Highway Patrol responded to U.S. 64 near Beecher Anderson Road.  A 2002 Chevrolet Astro was traveling west on U.S. 64, crossed the centerline, and collided head-on with an eastbound 2004 Oldsmobile Silhouette.

The driver of the Astro, 41-year-old Deanna Lynn Ross of Lenoir, was transported by EMS to Caldwell Memorial Hospital, where she passed away as a result of her injuries.  She was not restrained by a seatbelt. 

 The driver of the Silhouette, 29-year-old Reyna Mendoza of Valdese, was also brought to Caldwell Memorial Hospital, where she passed away from her injuries.  Four minors in the vehicle were transported to various hospitals in the area with injuries.

 U.S. 64 was closed in the area for over an hour during the on-scene investigation.
