Woman Sentenced To Minimum Of Close To Six Years In MDMA Trafficking Case

35-year-old Deannea Rochell Savoy of Mooresville pleaded guilty in a drug trafficking case during the recent session of Iredell County Superior Court. She was sentenced to 70 to 93 months, or five years, ten months to seven years nine months in prison.

Savoy was arrested in December, 2021 following a nearly four month long investigation into the distribution of MDMA or ecstasy. The probe was conducted by Iredell County Narcotics Investigators. Savoy was identified as the distributor during the investigation. Undercover officers purchased more than 1,800 dosage units of ecstasy during the course of several meetings.

Savoy was arrested at her home in Mooresville and charged with five felony counts apiece of trafficking MDMA by possession, sale, and transportation. During this month’s session of Superior Court, she pleaded guilty to five felony counts of trafficking schedule II controlled substance. She is currently incarcerated in the North Carolina Correctional Institution for Women.
