Woman Receives Jail Sentence In Alexander County

A Stony Point woman has been sentenced to serve a jail term in the Alexander County Detention Center. She was sentenced to 45 days in jail on Monday (August 7).

26-year-old Casandra Ann Barrera was ordered to serve the time in Alexander County District Court for felony probation violations. She was arrested on August 1 for violations of her probation in both Alexander and Iredell Counties. She was also arrested in May for probation violation.

Barrera is on probation as a result of a conviction in Iredell County in April of 2022 for driving while license revoked and misdemeanor possession of schedule IV controlled substance. The offenses were committed in January and March of 2022. She received probation and a suspended sentence.

Iredell County pending charges against Barrera include felony trafficking in opium or heroin, felony possession of controlled substance on jail premises and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Those cases are scheduled for Iredell County Superior Court on September 15.
