Woman Killed In Highway Crash

A woman was killed as a result of a crash over the weekend. The deceased is 49-year-old Niki Rochelle Jordan of Statesville. On Saturday, March 12, at approximately 1:25 p.m., the North Carolina State Highway Patrol responded to Interstate 77 South near Exit 35 (Brawley School Road). A 2001 Ford Explorer was traveling south on I-77, collided with the concrete median barrier, overturned several times, and went down an embankment off the right side of the roadway.

The 34-year-old male driver and a 39-year-old male passenger received minor injuries and were transported by EMS to Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in Mooresville. An eight-year-old passenger received non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by EMS to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte. Each was restrained by a seatbelt.

A rear-seat passenger, Niki Rochelle Jordan, was ejected and critically injured. She passed away as a result of her injuries while being transported by EMS. Ms. Jordan was not restrained by a seatbelt. The collision remains under investigation.
