60-year-old Katherine Ellis Mosteller of Oak Hill Drive in Morganton was arrested Monday (July 17) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. She’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance (methamphetamine).

At midnight Monday morning a Public Safety Officer conducted a traffic stop on Burkemont Avenue at Henredon Road. According to police reports, 8.2 grams of methamphetamine was seized during the traffic stop. Mosteller was taken into custody.

According to the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Mosteller has multiple convictions on misdemeanor charges in Burke, Avery, and Caldwell Counties. The most recent listed conviction was in 2013.

Following Monday’s arrest, Mosteller was brought to the Burke County Jail under $1,000 secured bond. She was not listed as an inmate in Burke County as of earlier today (July 19). A District Court date is scheduled for August 7.
