Woman Charged In Connection To 2019 Theft In Burke County

37-year-old Margaret Celina Hefner of Shelby was arrested Friday (April 12) by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. She’s charged with felony larceny of property, receiving or possessing stolen goods.

She’s charged in connection to an incident in April, 2019. On April 13 of that year a suspect stole a tractor, an air compressor, and a lawn mower from an address on Sugar Loaf Road in Connelly Springs. The value of the items stolen is listed at $4,200.

According to the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website, Hefner has two convictions listed, both were for misdemeanor charges. One was in 2008 in Burke County, the other in Catawba County in 2009.

She was taken into custody by the Burke County Sheriff’s Office Friday at 12 noon at the Burke County/Cleveland County Line. She was incarcerated in the Burke County Jail under $2,000 secured bond. A District Court appearance was scheduled today (April 15).
