Woman Arrested On Felony Charges After Police Are Called To Morganton Business

36-year-old Erica Monta Kincaid of Whippoorwill Lane in Morganton was arrested Monday (January 30) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. She’s charged with felony counts of possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver schedule II controlled substance, attempt to obtain property by false pretense and being an habitual felon along with misdemeanor counts of parole violation, resist, delay, or obstruct a public officer and second-degree trespass.

Shortly after 3 p.m. Monday a Public Safety Officer was dispatched to a business on Burkemont Avenue. The officer was contacted in reference to a woman allegedly taking items from the store and attempting to return them in exchange for money. The officer knew the identity of the woman, who allegedly gave the store employee a fictitious name. The officer informed the woman that they knew the suspect’s real name.

Kincaid is on parole as a result of a conviction in March, 2022 in Burke County for felony possession of schedule II controlled substance. She was released on August 4 and her parole was scheduled to end on May 1, 2023. She is listed as an absconder from probation on the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website.

Kincaid was arrested at the scene Monday and was brought to the Burke County Jail where she was confined under no bond on the parole violation charge and $27,501 secured bond on the other charges. District Court dates are scheduled Thursday (February 2), February 16, and February 27.
