26-year-old Maya Angelou Sherrod of Spring Lake, North Carolina was arrested by Catawba County Sheriff’s Officers Friday (August 25) on a felony warrant as a fugitive awaiting extradition to another state. Sherrod is wanted by the Miami-Dade County Police Department in Dade County, Florida for child neglect with no great bodily harm.

Following her arrest, Sherrod was jailed in the Catawba County Detention Facility under a $45,000 secured bond. Bond has since been reduced to $15,000; however, Sherrod remained in jail as of this afternoon (August 28). An appearance in District Court was scheduled last Friday in Newton with another court date coming up on August 31.
