Weekly Lunch & Library Sessions Available This Summer In Catawba County

The Catawba County Library, in partnership with the Backpack Program and the Community Kitchen of The Corner Table, will provide weekly lunch-and-library sessions at 111 Herman Sipe Road in Conover, near Oak Grove Mobile Home Park. The Library to Go will offer books and resources as you enjoy a free, hot meal on-site. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The series of summertime lunch-and-library sessions will be available every Wednesday from June 12 through August 14, with the exception of July 3. Lunch will be served between 12 noon and 1 pm, and the Library to Go will be set up for browsingbetween 11:30 am and 1 pm. Stop by early to check out all the library resources on display.

The Library to Go offers a specialized librarian to offer assistance with technology, job applications and resume building, reader’s advisory, and other resources. The additional resources include books for all ages, playaway audio and book kits and the opportunity to download free Libby and Hoopla ebooks, audio, music, and movies.

Those utilizing Library to Go services also get internet access, story time and STEAM programs. This partnership will also continue to provide food to bridge the gap during the summer months when school is out and children don’t have access to food bags from the Backpack Program. Food bags will be available to children at all library locations.

In addition, the Backpack Program, Community Kitchen of The Corner Table, and Catawba Valley Baptist Church will also provide weekly lunches in the Paradise Hills Community at 101 Old Tavern Lane in Maiden. Bag lunches will be distributed every Tuesday from June 11 through August 13 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The Library to Go will visit this site on July 16 and August 13.
