Weekend Shooting In Which Two Teenagers Were Injured Under Investigation
The Statesville Police Department is investigating a double shooting that occurred early Saturday morning (July 1) in the 900 block of Hill Terrace.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired at approximately 2:40 a.m. While officers were traveling to the scene, the SPD was notified that two individuals who were suffering from gunshot wounds had arrived at Iredell Memorial Hospital. They were transported by an unknown individual to the emergency room, police said.
One victim, an 18-year-old Statesville resident received a gunshot wound to the back, and the second victim, a 17-year-old juvenile, sustained a gunshot wound to the hand, police said. Both victims were transported to Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
The Statesville Police Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene. The investigation into this incident is continuing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Statesville Police Department at 704-878-3406.
