An incident involving a reported break-in and assault is under investigation. On Saturday (July 8) at approximately 4:00 a.m., Officers with the Morganton Department of Public Safety responded to the 400 block of Tate Street after a report of a disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers found two adults and two children who reported they had been assaulted after three armed intruders broke into their residence nearby.

All parties were treated by Burke County EMS on scene. A reverse 911 was placed for the surrounding areas as a precaution due to the locations of the suspects being unknown. Morganton Public Safety responded to the scene and took over the investigation. As of earlier today (July 10), no arrests had been made.
