Three COVID-19-related deaths were reported Tuesday (December 1) in Catawba County, increasing the overall total to 100 since the start of the pandemic. In addition, 89 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed Tuesday, lifting the overall count to 7,215. There were 61 people hospitalized, the same total as Monday (November 30).
The Caldwell County Health Department reported three COVID-19-related deaths Tuesday, increasing the total to 50. One patient was between the ages of 65 and 74 and two patients were over the age of 75. Two patients were hospitalized, and one was at hospice. All three patients were reported to have underlying health conditions, and one patient was a resident of Shaire Center.
An outbreak has been reported at Shaire Center Assisted Living. Three staff members in the facility have tested positive for COVID-19. Shaire Center also has an outbreak in their skilled nursing facility. 40 cases are associated with the outbreak in the skilled nursing facility. In congregate living settings, an outbreak of COVID-19 is defined as two or more laboratory-confirmed cases within a 28-day period.
76 new coronavirus cases were reported Tuesday in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 3,647. There were 28 people hospitalized with the virus. 66 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Burke County Tuesday, increasing the total to 4,310, with 67 deaths. 20 people were hospitalized with the coronavirus in Burke County.
22 new cases of COVID-19 have been added to Alexander County’s total since the last update, increasing the overall total to 1,663. The county is using the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services COVID-19 Dashboard as a more efficient method to keep the public informed. There have been 17 coronavirus-related deaths in Alexander County.
