Wednesday Morning COVID-19 Update: Deaths Reported In Catawba, Burke Counties

A COVID-19-related death was reported Tuesday (November 3) by Catawba County Public Health. It’s the 67th coronavirus-associated fatality since the beginning of the pandemic. Hospitalizations increased by seven from Monday (November 2) to 47, the highest single-day total thus far. 69 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Tuesday in Catawba County, increasing the overall total to 4,831.

Burke County Public Health reported the 61st COVID-19-related death in the county. The individual was in their 80s and was not hospitalized. It’s the third death reported in the last two days in Burke County. 24 new cases of the coronavirus were reported Tuesday in Burke, raising the total to 3,197. There were six people hospitalized.

26 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Tuesday in Caldwell County, lifting the total to 2,678, with 32 deaths. There were 21 Caldwell County residents hospitalized with the coronavirus. In the Shaire Center outbreak, 31 residents and eight staff have tested positive for COVID-19. The Shaire Center is working closely with the Caldwell County Health Department and continues to test both residents and staff on a weekly basis.

No new COVID cases were reported Tuesday in Alexander County, leaving the total at 973, with ten deaths. As of the last report, there were 23 people from Alexander County hospitalized for COVID-19.
