Five new cases of COVID-19 were reported Tuesday (September 8) by Catawba County Public Health. It was the second straight day that the number of new cases reported in Catawba County have been in the single digits, the first time that has happened since May. The overall total is now 2,735, with 48 deaths. There were 13 people hospitalized with the coronavirus, one more than Monday (September 7).
The Caldwell County Health Department reported two COVID-19-associated deaths Tuesday, increasing the total to 24. Both patients were over the age of 75, had been hospitalized, and were reported to have underlying health conditions.
The Health Department also identified a cluster of coronavirus cases linked to the Caldwell County Courthouse. Five cases are linked to that facility. Anyone who has visited the Caldwell County Courthouse in the last ten days should monitor for COVID-like symptoms. Two new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Caldwell County Tuesday, increasing the overall total to 1,494. There were 21 people hospitalized.
Burke County Public Health Tuesday reported the 38th COVID-19-associated death in the county. The individual in their 60s was not hospitalized but did have underlying medical conditions. 17 new coronavirus cases were reported in Burke County, increasing the overall total to 2,124. There were nine people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Burke County.
No new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Alexander County Tuesday, leaving the total at 409, with three deaths.
