Thursday Morning COVID-19 Update: 11% Of Catawba Residents Vaccinated, Zero Cases Reported In Alexander County

16 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Wednesday (March 17) in Catawba County, increasing the overall total to 17,506. Two coronavirus-associated deaths were reported Wednesday, lifting the total to 290. Hospitalizations fell to 27. According to Wednesday’s update, 11% of Catawba County’s residents have received the COVID-19 vaccine.

16 new cases of the virus were reported Wednesday in Burke County, increasing the count there to 9,592, with 146 deaths. There were five people hospitalized with COVID-19. Ten new cases were confirmed in Caldwell County, increasing the tally to 8,631, with 138 deaths. 14 Caldwell residents were hospitalized with the coronavirus.

Zero new cases of COVID-19 were added in Alexander County, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. The total is listed this morning (March 18) at 4,014, the same amount reported by Alexander County health officials Wednesday. There have been 84 coronavirus-related deaths in Alexander County and ten people were hospitalized.
