The City of Hickory had a discharge of untreated wastewater on Saturday (November 14) and Sunday (November 15) of an estimated 1.47 million gallons at 4014 River Road. The untreated wastewater was discharged into the Henry Fork River. This discharge was caused by heavy rain and flooding in the area.
The Division of Water Resources was notified of the event and is reviewing the matter. The city says the water remains safe after the overflow. For more information, contact the City of Hickory Public Utilities Department at 828-323-7427.
