Ward 4 Hickory City Council Member Appointed At Tuesday Meeting

Hickory City Council met Tuesday night (February 8). Reverend Dr. Anthony Freeman was appointed to City Council for the Ward 4 vacancy, filling the role until the general election in November when the citizens have the opportunity to vote.

In other action Tuesday, minutes, second readings, and the consent agenda were all approved. In addition, Deputy City Manager Rodney miller presented the 2nd quarter financial report. He also explained the Catawba County revaluation process, per Council’s request.

A public hearing was held for consideration of the approval of the execution and delivery of the contract with Truist. The contract is for the refinancing and financing of the Hickory Metro Convention Center renovations and improvements, not to exceed $15,365,000. This item was unanimously approved.

There was a presentation of the Distinguished Budget Award for the fiscal year 2022-23. This is the 28th year the city has received this recognition. In addition there was a presentation of the Comprehensive Financial Report Award. This is the 26th year the city has received this award.
