A vehicle fire involving construction equipment caused damage to two vehicles Monday evening (June 1) in Burke County.

According to Lovelady Fire & Rescue, crews responded to the fire in a remote part of the department’s fire district and requested automatic aid from Salem Fire Rescue due to the location.

Firefighters arrived to find a vehicle actively burning while towing a backhoe. Officials say the vehicle caught fire and rolled backward into another vehicle behind it. Crews stretched a hose line and extinguished the fire with assistance from the Burke County Fire Marshal’s Office.

No injuries were reported.
