Valdese Woman Charged With Drug Offenses Following Traffic Stop

39-year-old Angel Gail Norman Young of Mourglea Avenue in Valdese was arrested Monday (November 27) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. She’s charged with felony possession of schedule I controlled substance along with two misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia. Young is also charged with multiple traffic offenses.

Shortly after 7 p.m. Monday a Public Safety Officer conducted a traffic stop on a 1998 Volvo passenger vehicle with an expired registration plate and broken left headlight. The vehicle was stopped on South Sterling Street in Morganton. After making contact with the driver and suspect, Angel Young, and other occupants of the vehicle, the suspect was taken into custody.

During the investigation, police seized two grams of psilocybin mushrooms. Young was brought to the Burke County Jail under a $2,500 secured bond. She was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (November 29). A District Court appearance is scheduled for Thursday (November 30). Young also has District Court appearances scheduled for December 15, January 5, and January 22 for misdemeanor and traffic charges.
