Valdese Woman Charged Following Traffic Stop During Which Fentanyl Was Found By Police

31-year-old Courtney Leigh Morgan of High Peak Mountain Road in Valdese was arrested Tuesday (August 29) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. She’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving during revocation.

Tuesday, just before 11 p.m., a Public Safety Officer came into contact with a silver 2004 Honda Accord on Jamestown Road at Dixie Boulevard. The vehicle was displaying an altered registration plate and the driver had a revoked license. During the vehicle stop, the officer seized .5 grams of fentanyl. The driver, Courtney Leigh Morgan, was taken into custody.

According to the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections Offender Public Information website, Courtney Leigh Morgan has multiple convictions dating back to 2015. She’s been convicted of various crimes in Burke and McDowell Counties. The most recent conviction was in 2019 in McDowell County.

Morgan was incarcerated in the Burke County Jail under $5,000 secured bond. A District Court date is scheduled for September 21.
