Valdese Man Charged With Felony Offenses In Connection To February Incident
52-year-old Ricky Lee Propst of High Peak Road in Valdese was arrested Friday (April 14) by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of larceny of a motor vehicle, domestic violence protective order violation, robbery with a dangerous weapon, first-degree burglary, larceny, and domestic violence protective order violation with a deadly weapon. Propst is also charged with misdemeanor counts of domestic violence protective order violation, domestic criminal trespass, communicating threats, larceny, cyberstalking, and harassing phone call.
He was arrested in connection to a burglary that occurred February 26, 2023 at a location on Bennett Road in Morganton. The victim was a Morganton woman. The incident occurred at a residence on Bennett Road at approximately 8 p.m. on February 26. Multiple items were reportedly stolen during the incident.
Propst has a criminal history that includes multiple convictions dating back to 1994 in Catawba, Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, Gaston, Caldwell and Burke Counties. His most recent conviction was for felony breaking & entering to vending machines in Burke County in January, 2020.
Propst was arrested shortly before 4:30 p.m. Friday at an address on Hubert Park Avenue in Connelly Springs. He was incarcerated in the Burke County Jail, where he remained as of earlier today (April 17) under $176,500 secured bond. District Court appearances were scheduled for today and May 1, a Superior Court date is set for May 22.
