Valdese Man Charged With Drug Offenses Following Traffic Stop

49-year-old Brent Allen Ford of Becker Avenue NW in Valdese was arrested Thursday (November 30) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with felony possession with intent to manufacture, sell, and deliver methamphetamine along with misdemeanor counts of simple possession of schedule II controlled substance (oxycodone), possession of drug paraphernalia, and carrying a concealed gun.

On Thursday, an Officer with the Morganton Department of Public Safety conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation. The vehicle was stopped at approximately 10 p.m. on East McDowell Street in Morganton. A K9 was utilized and a search reportedly resulted in the discovery of 17 grams of methamphetamine, one oxycodone pill, drug paraphernalia and a concealed handgun.

The rear passenger, Brent Allen Ford, was found to be in possession of the previously mentioned items and was placed under arrest. A second suspect, a Morganton woman, was arrested on traffic charges.

Ford was brought to the Burke County Jail under a $10,000 secured bond. He was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (December 4). He made a first court appearance Friday (December 1), his next District Court date is set for December 15. According to Public Safety, Ford has previous charges including DWI, driving while license revoked, assault and breaking and entering.
