U.S. Representative McHenry Will Not Seek Re-Election

U.S. House Representative Patrick McHenry, a Republican from North Carolina, announced today (December 5) that he will not seek re-election in 2024.

The 48-year-old McHenry became the chair of the House Financial Services Committee at the beginning of the year. He served for three-weeks as House Speaker pro tempore in October after Republicans ousted California Representative Kevin McCarthy from the position.

Rep. McHenry was initially elected to the House in 2004. He represents North Carolina’s 10th congressional district, which includes Hickory.
