STONY POINT, N.C. — Two women are facing felony breaking and entering charges after deputies responded to a reported break-in in progress at a home in Stony Point.

According to the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the property on June 23. Investigators established a perimeter and searched the area, including using a K-9 unit, but were initially unable to locate the suspects.

Later that evening, deputies returned to the property and spotted an individual carrying a flashlight. Deputies took 40-year-old Kristy Michelle Sigmon of Stony Point into custody. A second suspect, 37-year-old Christina Dawn Hatcher of Taylorsville, was located and arrested during the early morning hours.

Sigmon was charged with felony breaking and entering. She is being held in the Alexander County Detention Center under a $10,000 secured bond and is scheduled to make her first court appearance on June 29.

The investigation by the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office remains ongoing.
