41-year-old Elaynia Victoria Huffman and 25-year-old Corey Wesley Fagan, both of the same U.S. 70, Connelly Springs address, were arrested by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers. Huffman is charged with felony trafficking opium or heroin. Fagan is charged with felony counts of possession of methamphetamine and probation violation.
Last Friday (January 26) the Burke County Sheriff’s Office and Probation & Parole Officers were conducting a joint operation, incorporating undercover and conspicuous patrol actions in the Hildebran and Icard communities. They responded after numerous citizen complaints about illegal activities in the area. The alleged activities included breaking and entering, larcenies, overdoses, and alleged drug trafficking.
At approximately 11:00 a.m., Probation & Parole made contact with Corey Wesley Fagan to conduct an in-home probation visit. While probation officers were securing the residence for search, they took note that there were multiple people in the residence and requested assistance from the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.
While removing people from various bedrooms within the residence, Elaynia Victoria Huffman was discovered in a back bedroom. Huffman told investigators that there was fentanyl in the room. After conducting a search, Huffman was found in possession of approximately 75 grams of Fentanyl in pressed pill form, several fentanyl patches, and small pre-packaged containers of powdered Fentanyl along with drug paraphernalia.
A search of Fagan’s bedroom resulted in the discovery of less than one gram of a substance which tested positive for methamphetamine. In addition to the meth, police found drug paraphernalia. Both Huffman and Fagan were arrested without incident. Huffman received a $25,000 secured bond, Fagan’s bond was set at $10,000 secured. Both suspects remained in jail as of earlier today (January 31). They both have District Court dates February 19.
