Two Suspects Charged In Connection To Theft Of Food Stamps

33-year-old Charlissa Noel Morgan and 38-year-old Robert John Britting, both of Hiddenite, were arrested Monday (November 6) by Alexander County Sheriff’s Officers. Both suspects are charged with felony counts of obtaining property by false pretense and buy, sell, or distribute food stamps.

According to reports, the charges involve the larceny of food stamps. According to the North Carolina Judicial Branch website, Morgan is also charged in Alexander County with misdemeanor school attendance law violation. That same website shows an additional charge of misdemeanor second-degree trespass pending against Britting in Alexander County.

Both suspects were placed in the Alexander County Detention Center under $5,000 secured bond following their arrests. Morgan was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (November 10), Britting remained in jail. Morgan is scheduled to appear in Alexander County District Court November 13, Britting has a District Court date November 27.
