56-year-old Lisa Ann Evans of Amity Hill Road in Statesville and 28-year-old Nadyriah Monae Hudson Cowan of Perry Road in Troutman were arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. Both suspects are charged with felony possession of cocaine along with misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting a public officer. Evans is additionally charged with felony counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for the use of a controlled substance, and traffic offenses.
On Monday (February 5), a deputy with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement (ACE) Team conducted a traffic stop on a Chevrolet Aveo on Old Mountain Road for displaying a fictitious registration plate. When the officer approached, he immediately recognized both occupants in the vehicle.
The driver said her name was Gail Broome and the passenger said her name was Mahogany. The officer knew the names given were false, and the real identity of the occupants were the suspects, Evans and Cowan. A search of the vehicle was conducted and police reportedly seized 14.44 grams of powdered cocaine, 1.8 grams of crack cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.
Evans and Cowan were both arrested on scene and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center. Evans was initally jailed under no bond, as of earlier today (February 9), She was being held under $100,000 secured bond. Cowan’s bond was set at $3,500 secured, she was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today. Evans has District Court dates February 27 and March 4. Cowan’s next District Court date is March 4.
