Two from Morganton Arrested on Felony Meth & Heroin Charges

44-year-old Wayne Patrick McDaniel and 32-year-old Kelly Rae Schreiber, both of the same address on Log Hollow Lane in Morganton, have been arrested by Burke Co. Narcotics Officers. McDaniel was charged with felony counts of trafficking in methamphetamine, possession of a weapon of mass destruction, and possession of a stolen firearm. Schreiber faces one felony count of trafficking in opium or heroin.

The were arrested last Friday (July 17) when Sheriff’s Officers executed a search warrant at the suspects’ residence. The search warrant was the result of an investigation that spanned several weeks. The search turned up multiple felony amounts of controlled substances including meth and heroin. Also seized were U.S. currency, a stolen firearm, and a weapon of mass destruction.

McDaniel and Schreiber were taken into custody and booked into the Burke County Jail. Bond for McDaniel was set at $50,000, secured, while Schreiber was given a $5,000 secured bond. They made first appearances in District Court Monday (July 20) with another court date coming up on August 10 in Morganton.
