37-year-old Richard Todd Frady of Suburban Drive and 29-year-old Curston Shay Graybeal of Peeler Street, both from Morganton, have been arrested by Burke Co. Sheriff’s Officers. Frady was charged with felony counts of trafficking in methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance on prison or jail premises. Graybeal faces one felony count of possession of a schedule II controlled substance and one misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
They were arrested in connection to an incident Monday (August 3) when a Morganton Public Safety Officer traveling on Greene Street saw a sedan traveling north with a fictitious tag. A traffic stop was conducted and the occupants of the vehicle were identified as Richard Todd Frady and Curston Shay Graybeal.
Burke County Sheriff’s Detectives were nearby and assisted with the investigation. A search of the vehicle turned up substantial amounts of methamphetamine from the vehicle and on Graybeal’s person. Both suspects were taken into custody.
During the booking process, Frady admitted that he had concealed controlled substances on his person. Frady and Graybeal were placed in the Burke County Jail. Frady’s bond was set at $25,000, secured, while Graybeal was given a $10,000 secured bond. They will both appear in District Court tomorrow (August 6) in Morganton.
