24-year-old Dekota Ryan Pettry of Oak Hill Drive and 40-year-old Christopher Alan Pruett of U.S. Highway 64, both from Morganton, have been arrested by Burke County Sheriff’s Officers on felony larceny charges.
Their arrests stem from an incident on December 11, 2023, when the Sheriff’s Office took a report regarding the theft of diamond-plated aluminum from Toner Machining Technologies in Morganton. Several sheets of aluminum valued at approximately $5,000 were stolen during the night of December 10. The business provided video surveillance footage that included information on two suspect vehicles.
Officers found the suspect vehicles, which led Investigators to Pettry and Pruett. On January 3, several pieces of the diamond-plated aluminum were recovered and returned to Toner Machining Technologies.
Pettry was arrested on December 21 and Pruett was taken into custody on January 3. Pettry was issued a $75,000 secured bond with a court date set for December 29. Pruett was given a $5,000 secured bond with a court date on January 4.
Since November of 2023, Dekota Pettry has been arrested on felony counts of possession of a stolen motor vehicle in Rutherford County, larceny of a motor vehicle and possession of a stolen motor vehicle in Lincoln County, and larceny in Burke County, along with misdemeanor counts of possession of stolen goods and resisting a public officer in Burke County. Pettry was scheduled to appear in District and Superior Court today (January 8) in Morganton with additional Burke County District Court dates on January 18 & 22 and February 2. He’ll appear in a Rutherford County courtroom on January 17 and in Lincoln County District Court on January 19. Pruett will next appear in District Court on January 25 in Morganton.
