Two Charged in Connection With Iredell County Storage Unit Break-Ins

38-year-old Amanda Sue Jones and 29-year-old Robert Dale Morton, both from the same address on Ewart Road in Huntersville, have been arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. They were both charged with seven felony counts each of breaking & entering and conspiracy, plus seven misdemeanor counts of child abuse.

Jones and Morton were arrested in connection with numerous break-ins at storage units in the Troutman and Mooresville area in December of last year. The victims reported that locks had been cut off and items were stolen from the storage units.

Iredell County Detectives interviewed witnesses and reviewed surveillance video. They were able to identify a suspect vehicle as a Ford Expedition. Additional evidence identified the suspects as Jones and Morton. Detectives also learned the suspects’ four-year-old daughter was in the vehicle with them while they were committing some of the crimes.

With assistance from Huntersville Police, Jones and Morton were found and arrested at a motel in Huntersville Monday (January 8). They were placed in the Iredell County Detention Center with bond for each set at $250,000, secured. Jones and Morton will appear in District Court on January 30.

Detectives believe the suspects were likely involved in more crimes in other jurisdictions. The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office is currently assisting other law enforcement agencies to help clear those cases. Additional charges are pending.
