21-year-old David Khalil Alexander of Club Drive and 19-year-old Amontae Eldred White of Altondale Drive, both from Statesville, have been arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers on felony counts of possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance, conspiracy to sell or distribute a controlled substance, and maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance. They were also charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Alexander and White were arrested at about 5:45 p.m. last Wednesday (December 7) when a Deputy came upon a traffic accident that had just occurred on the Interstate 40 exit ramp at the Turnersburg Highway. The Deputy pulled over, but before she could exit her vehicle, one of the vehicles began to flee. The Deputy pursued the vehicle and until it came to a stop in a Circle K parking lot a few miles from the scene of the accident.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as David Khalil Alexander and the passenger was identified as Amontae Eldred White. During the course of the traffic stop, the Deputy reportedly found approximately 6.4 ounces of marijuana, $2,947 in cash, and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.
Alexander and White were both placed in the Iredell County Detention Center. Both suspects were denied bond as the result of previous pending charges. They will both appear in District Court on December 20. Alexander will also appear in a Cabarrus County courtroom on January 1 on a felony marijuana charge and a misdemeanor weapons charge. In addition, he has a Superior Court date on January 2 in Iredell County on felony counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and conspiracy, plus a misdemeanor count of discharging a firearm in the city limits. White has additional Iredell County court dates on a variety of misdemeanor charges coming up on January 10, 12, & 23, and on February 22.
Alexander has a criminal history that includes misdemeanor carrying a concealed weapon. He is currently on probation for felony possession of schedule VI controlled substance. White has a criminal history that includes fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle.
