20-year-old Vestal Izaiah Martel of Miller Road in Todd, North Carolina and 20-year-old Weston Harold Wood of Clyde Townsend Road in Boone have both been arrested by Iredell Co. Sheriff’s Officers. They were each charged with felony counts of possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, possession of T.H.C. oil, and possession with intent to sell or deliver T.H.C. oil, plus one count of misdemeanor possession of marijuana paraphernalia. Martel also faces one felony count of maintaining a vehicle for a controlled substance.
On Wednesday (September 23), a Deputy stopped a Honda S.U.V. on East Memorial Highway, near Harmony. The Deputy spoke with the occupants (Martel and Wood) and found that the driver did not have a valid driver’s license.
An additional Officer arrived to assist with a search of the vehicle. During the search, a large box was found in the rear of the vehicle. The box contained 5.5 pounds of marijuana, and 194 T.H.C. cartridges. Both suspects were arrested and taken to the Iredell Co. Detention Center.
Martel was given a $15,000 secured bond, while Wood’s bond was set at $25,000, secured. Their next appearances in District Court were scheduled for October 15.
