Tuesday Morning COVID-19 Update: More Than 200 New Cases Reported Monday In Hickory Metro, Deaths In Catawba, Caldwell

A COVID-19-related death was reported Monday (October 26) by Catawba County Public Health, increasing the total to 63 since the start of the pandemic. 73 new cases of the coronavirus were reported Monday in Catawba County, increasing the total to 4,301. 73 represents the second-highest single day total of new infections reported. There are 32 people hospitalized with the virus, three fewer than Sunday (October 25).

The Caldwell County Health Department Monday learned of the county’s 31st COVID-19-related death. The patient was over the age of 75, had been hospitalized and was reported to have underlying conditions. 98 new cases of the coronavirus were reported Monday in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 2,466. There were 19 Caldwell County residents hospitalized.

The Alexander County Health Department reported 34 new cases of COVID-19 Monday, raising the total to 822, with nine deaths. 118 people were in quarantine, 14 people were in the hospital, and of the 822 total cases, at least 681 people had recovered. 24 cases of the coronavirus were added in Burke County Monday, lifting the total to 2,977, with 54 deaths. There were five people hospitalized in Burke County with COVID-19.
