The 46th COVID-19-related death was reported Monday (August 31) by Catawba County Public Health. In addition, seven new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Monday, upping the overall total to 2,644. There were 13 people hospitalized with the coronavirus in Catawba County, the same total as Sunday (August 30).
The Alexander County Health Department reported the county’s third death associated with COVID-19. 29 new cases of the coronavirus were reported Monday in Alexander County, increasing the overall total to 394. There were 46 people in quarantine with COVID-19 and seven people were in the hospital. Of the 394 total cases, at least 338 patients had recovered.
17 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed between Friday afternoon (August 28) and Monday afternoon by the Caldwell County Health Department, increasing the total to 1,433, with 20 deaths. There were 21 Caldwell County residents hospitalized and at least 800 patients had recovered. Caldwell County health officials say there are still three active outbreaks.
Health officials in Burke County reported seven new cases of COVID-19 Monday, raising the total in that county to 2021, with 35 deaths. There were eight people hospitalized in Burke County with the coronavirus Monday, and at least 1,760 patients had recovered.[Photo courtesy of danvillesanramon.com]
