Three COVID-19-related deaths were reported Monday (August 24) by Catawba County Public Health, increasing the total to 42 since the start of the pandemic. In addition, 28 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed Monday in Catawba County, upping the overall total to 2,535. There were 16 people hospitalized with COVID-19, one more than Sunday’s (August 23) total.
The Caldwell County Health Department confirmed two COVID-19-related deaths Monday, increasing the total to 20. One patient was between the ages of 65 and 74 and the other was over the age of 75. Both patients had been hospitalized and were reported to have underlying conditions. 15 coronavirus cases were reported in Caldwell County from Friday (August 21) until Monday afternoon, increasing the total to 1,370. There were 18 people hospitalized and at least 745 patients had recovered.
12 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Burke County Monday, making the total 1,955 since the start of the coronavirus outbreak. There have been 32 COVID-19-related deaths in Burke County, seven people were hospitalized, and at least 1,663 patients had recovered. The Alexander County Health Department reported 17 new cases of the coronavirus Monday, increasing the total to 365, with two deaths. Nine people were in the hospital and at least 301 people had recovered.
