A COVID-19-associated death was reported Monday (December 21) by Catawba County Public Health, increasing the overall total to 140. 98 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed Monday, increasing Catawba County’s total to 10,262. There were 90 people hospitalized with the virus in Catawba County.
On Monday, the Caldwell County Health Department confirmed three COVID-19-related deaths and saw a pandemic-high number of residents hospitalized. The total number of coronavirus-associated deaths now stands at 60. Of the three most recent deaths, all were hospitalized and reported to have underlying health conditions. Two patients were between 65 and 74, and the other was over the age of 75.

There were 19 people hospitalized with the coronavirus.
26 new cases of COVID-19 were added Monday in Alexander County, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, raising the overall total to 2,299, with 26 deaths.
