A COVID-19-associated death was reported Monday (December 28) by health officials in Catawba County, increasing the total to 150 since the start of the pandemic. Catawba County Public Health reported 65 new cases of COVID-19 Monday raising the overall total to 11,043. There were 98 people hospitalized with the coronvirus in Catawba County.
Three COVID-19-related deaths were reported Monday in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 69. All three patients were hospitalized, and two were reported to have underlying health conditions. One patient was between the ages of 65 and 74 and the others were over the age of 75. 35 new cases of the virus were reported in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 5,490 overall. There were 61 Caldwell County residents hospitalized. Caldwell County continues to report six active outbreaks and four active clusters.
62 new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Burke County, increasing the total to 5,885, with 77 deaths. According to the Burke County Health Department’s COVID-19 dashboard, there were 21 people hospitalized in Burke County with the coronavirus. The Burke County Health Department is not doing any COVID-19 testing during the holiday season. Testing will resume next Monday, January 4, 2021.
14 new cases of COVID-19 have been added in Alexander County in the last day, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. This morning’s (December 29) update shows 2,526 cases overall. There have been 29 COVID-19-related deaths in Alexander County.
