Tuesday Morning COVID-19 Update: Deaths Reported In Catawba, Alexander Counties, Rapid Testing At Burke Pharmacy

The 53rd COVID-19-related death was reported Monday (September 21) by Catawba County Public Health. In addition, 20 new cases of the coronavirus were reported, increasing the overall total to 3,013. There were 14 people hospitalized in Catawba County Monday, two fewer than Sunday’s (September 20) total.

The Alexander County Health Department reported two additional COVID-related deaths Monday, increasing the total to six since the start of the pandemic. 15 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed Monday in Alexander County, increasing the total to 482. There were two people hospitalized, 38 people were in quarantine and at least 436 people have recovered.

13 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Monday in Burke County, increasing the total to at 2,288, with 41 deaths. There were four people hospitalized and at least 1,985 coronavirus patients had recovered in Burke County.

East Burke Pharmacy in Hildebran is now doing rapid COVID-19 testing on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. The fee is $75, they will not be filing insurance. Results will be back by the end of the day. This is a drive thru service by appointment only. The tent is set up in the back of their pharmacy. You do not go inside the pharmacy for this testing. 17 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in Caldwell County between Friday (September 18) and Monday afternoon. The total increased to 1,624, with 28 deaths. There were 22 people hospitalized and at least 976 patients had recovered.
