Catawba County Public Health reported 12 new COVID-19 infections Monday (October 5) in the county, raising the total to 3,361, with 55 deaths. Coronavirus hospitalizations increased to 24, two more than the total reported Sunday (October 4).
Burke County Public Health Monday reported the 48th COVID-19 associated death in the county. The individual in their 70s was not hospitalized when they died from underlying medical conditions. 36 new cases of the coronavirus were reported in Burke County Monday, increasing the total to at 2,524. There were nine people hospitalized with COVID-19.
An outbreak was confirmed at Focus Behavioral Health’s Burkwell residential facility in Caldwell County. Six cases have been linked to the outbreak. In congregate living settings, an outbreak of COVID-19 is defined as two or more laboratory-confirmed cases within a 28-day period. Staff at the facility is working closely with the Caldwell County Health Department and continuing to adhere to CDC and NCDHHS guidelines to minimize exposure.
38 COVID-19 cases were confirmed Monday in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 1,818, with 29 deaths. There were 15 people hospitalized. Last week, Caldwell County had a total of 120 confirmed cases, the highest number of weekly cases since the week of July 26.
Seven new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Monday in Alexander County, increasing the total to 550, with eight deaths. Three people are hospitalized in Alexander County and as of Monday, 60 were in quarantine with the virus.[Photo Courtesy of ladot.lacity.org]
