One COVID-19-associated death was reported Monday (February 1) in Catawba County, increasing the total to 244. 133 new cases were reported Monday by Catawba County Public Health, raising the total to 15,619. There were 119 people hospitalized.
Burke County health officials reported a total of 8,689 coronavirus cases Monday, an increase of 101 since the last update, which was issued last Friday (January 29). There have been 120 COVID-19-related deaths in Burke County and ten people were hospitalized.
35 new cases of the virus were reported Monday in Caldwell County, lifting the total to 8,007, with 115 deaths. There were 30 Caldwell County residents hospitalized with COVID-19. According to Caldwell health officials, while the first week of January saw the highest one-week total of cases in the county since the pandemic began, each week in January the number of cases dropped. By the last two weeks of the month, the number of cases reported was less than any week in December. The weekly positivity rate also decreased during the month of January.
11 new cases of COVID-19 were reported Monday in Alexander County, according to information from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. The total increased to 3,514, with 59 deaths.
