Ten new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Catawba County between Friday (May 7) and Monday (May 10), lifting the total to 18,873. In addition, two new coronavirus-associated deaths were reported increasing the total to 304. 18 people were hospitalized with the virus.
On Monday, the Caldwell County Health Department confirmed a cluster of COVID-19 cases in the Caldwell County Schools. The cluster involves students in a classroom at Collettsville School. A cluster is a minimum of five cases with illness onset or initial positive results within a 14-day period and a plausible epidemiological link. Any student and/or staff member identified as a close contact has been notified and subsequently, all recommended quarantine procedures will be followed.
13 new cases of the virus were confirmed Monday in Caldwell County, increasing the total to 9,367, with 148 deaths. There were five people hospitalized. 33 new cases of the coronavirus were confirmed between Friday and Monday in Burke County, increasing the total to 10,162, with 160 deaths. Five people were hospitalized. Ten new cases of COVID-19 were reported over the weekend in Alexander County, raising the overall tally to 4,385.
