Traffic Stop On Motorcycle Leads To Seizure Of Meth, Felony Charge
41-year-old Michael Brian Woodie of Mill Race Road in Morganton was arrested last Friday (September 1) by Morganton Public Safety Officers. He’s charged with felony possession of schedule II controlled substance along with a count of driving during revocation.
Shortly after 6:30 a.m. last Friday a Public Safety Officer conducted a traffic stop on a white 2004 Yamaha motorcycle displaying a fictitious plate. After making contact with the driver, identified as Michael Brian Woodie, the officer placed the suspect under arrest. The officer reportedly seized 1.8 grams of methamphetamine during the traffic stop.
Michael Brian Woodie has multiple convictions listed on the North Carolina Department Of Adult Correction Offender Public Information website. The cases are all from Burke County and date back to 2005. The most recent conviction was in May, 2023 for felony possession of schedule II controlled substance. He received probation and a suspended sentence.
Following Friday’s arrest, Woodie was incarcerated in the Burke County Jail under $10,000 secured bond. He was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (September 6). A District Court date is scheduled for Thursday (September 7).
