Traffic Stop Leads to Felony Meth & Firearms Arrest

50-year-old Cynthia Marie Hornbeck of Catawba Street in Lincolnton has been arrested by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputies on felony counts of trafficking methamphetamine by possession & transport and maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance. She was also charged with carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a schedule II controlled substance (Oxycodone) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On January 19, Deputies conducted a traffic stop for a moving violation on the 500 block of South Aspen Street in Lincolnton. K-9 Officer Oden and his handler were called to the scene. The dog alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics, leading to a probable cause search of the vehicle. Officers found and seized 13.5 ounces of methamphetamine, 13 grams of marijuana, and a firearm.

The driver of the vehicle, Cynthia Marie Hornbeck, was taken to the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center and later released under a $50,000 secured bond. She’ll appear in District Court on February 12.
