Traffic Stop Leads To Felony Drug Charges

27-year-old Aquevious Lavonte Johnson of Talley Street in Troutman was arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of possession of marijuana and maintaining a vehicle, dwelling, or place for controlled substance along with a misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana paraphernalia.

According to published reports, an officer assigned to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team, stopped a vehicle Johnson was driving. The suspect was operating the vehicle on November 4 and was pulled over on Interstate 77 south at mile marker 43.

During the course of the traffic stop, police reportedly seized 514.58 grams of marijuana reportedly found in the vehicle. The reports say police seized the drugs and placed Johnson under arrest. He was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center under a $2,500 secured bond.

Johnson was not listed as an inmate in Iredell County as of earlier today (November 13). A District Court appearance is scheduled for November 27 in Statesville.
