Traffic Stop Leads To Arrest, Seizure Of Meth

43-year-old Cesar Chavez Santibanez of Dogwood Estates Circle in Statesville was arrested by Iredell County Sheriff’s Officers. He’s charged with felony counts of possession with intent to sell or deliver schedule II controlled substance and maintaining a vehicle for the use or sale of controlled substance. In addition, Santibanez is charged with misdemeanor counts of carrying a concealed handgun and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Last Thursday, February 29, officer with the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office ACE (Aggressive Criminal Enforcement) Team conducted a traffic stop on Turnersburg Highway. While speaking to the driver, Cesar Chavez Santibanez, it was determined he did not have a valid driver’s license in his possession. A deputy then noticed a bag lying on the driver’s side floorboard which reportedly contained crystal methamphetamine. Officers searched the vehicle and found a .380 caliber handgun and 11.77 grams of meth packaged in a manner for distribution.

Santibanez was arrested at the scene and transported to the Iredell County Detention Center under a $30,000 secured bond. He was not listed as an inmate as of earlier today (March 6). A District Court date is set for March 22.
